Partner Spotlight: Ubisoft on supporting DSH

Author: sophia.aker

We feel incredibly privileged to be supported by passionate and generous industry partners, who have enabled us to reach thousands of pupils across the UK and make our vision of bridging the gap between education and industry a reality.

"Even if you’re not an expert in the education field or have learning materials within your projects, the team at Digital Schoolhouse can help with deciding how you can best add value to the UK curriculum."

Today, we're in conversation with our partner, Ubisoft. Ubisoft is a leading creator, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment and services, with a rich portfolio of world-renowned brands, including Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, Tom Clancy’s video game series, Rayman and Far Cry. The teams throughout Ubisoft’s worldwide network of studios and business offices are committed to delivering original and memorable gaming experiences across all popular platforms, including consoles, mobile phones, tablets and PCs.

Why did you get involved with supporting the programme?

Ubisoft is a proud champion of the UK video games industry, and a keen supporter of developing closer links between education and industry.

At Ubisoft we’re privileged to work with so many creative and passionate individuals in our everyday roles, but in order for the UK to develop and thrive, we need to share our experiences of how exciting and rewarding a career in this fantastic industry can be.

What has been your favourite part of working with DSH?

Ubisoft is very pleased to have this wonderful opportunity to work with Ukie and Digital Schoolhouse to collectively inspire the young minds of tomorrow. We were thrilled to open our doors to local Digital Schoolhouse students for the Creative Careers Week. What better resource to inspire them than games?

What advice would you give other org’s who want to get involved in supporting grassroots education?

Generally speaking, get involved and look for ways to encourage children in digital learning; not just by leveraging recognisable brands to engage them but by sharing personal experience to help inspire them into choosing a career in games.   Education programmes such as Digital Schoolhouse perfectly bridge the gap between education, computing, and the wider creative industries to help inspire students with the skills they’ll need to succeed in a digital age.

Game development is a huge part of the industry but it doesn’t stop there – there’s a thriving sub-set of other disciplines such as Marketing, Sales, Finance, Quality Assurance, Operations, IT…the list goes on.  Inspiration can come from many areas of the business.

Even if you’re not an expert in the education field or have learning materials within your projects, the team at Digital Schoolhouse can help with deciding how you can best add value to the UK curriculum.
