It’s a fresh new year and that means one thing: our annual Schoolhouse applications are now open!

This year has been a landmark year for Digital Schoolhouse. We reached an amazing number of 55 Schoolhouses across the UK with the support of DCMS and a record number of primary pupils, announced an exciting lead partnership with Nintendo UK, and were awarded the Hundred Digital Wellbeing spotlight as an innovative organisation improving digital wellbeing and education.
We couldn’t have done any of this without our brilliant and ingenious Lead Teachers, who are our on the ground experts in Computing education.
Now, we’re looking for excellent schools & colleges to join us, and continue our mission of bridging the gap between education and industry to aptly equip the next generation for a digital age.

This is a chance for your school to be at the forefront of computing education by helping the next generation become confident and competent in mastering digital concepts, and exposing them to the many careers available to them in the digital industries.
For us, getting involved with Digital Schoolhouse was a no brainer. It has enabled us to engage with local primary schools, and to help close the gender gap within computing education, but it has provided us with so much more. The continuing professional development (CPD) training that teachers like me receive through the programme is exceptional! We have been trained by industry experts, and all for free, which is another huge benefit for any schools trying to navigate reduced funding or budget cuts. New College has recently sponsored the opening of a brand new secondary school in the area, and we have already agreed that it will also be a DSH school – that’s how highly we rate the programme!

How to apply
Step 1: Apply to our online form here.
Step 2: Complete and submit your full application by midnight on 31 March 2019.
Step 3: Shortlisted schools will be contacted for a site visit by first week of May.
Step 4: Selected schools are contacted regarding the outcome of their application by the first week of June. Digital Schoolhouse Lead Teachers will be invited to attend a 'Summer Boot up Camp' where they will receive information and training on how to carry out the programme in their school.
The programme has limited spaces so we encourage you to apply early. Please also provide any supporting information that you think will help your application in the selection process.
How it works
Digital Schoolhouse together with Nintendo UK, uses play-based learning to engage the next generation of pupils and teachers with the Computing curriculum. Digital Schoolhouse is delivered by the UK games industry trade body Ukie and is supported by the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
Our ingenious computing workshops are aimed at local primary schools across the UK. Delivered by our expert network of Schoolhouses and lead teachers, you can experience our unique approach to play-based learning through innovative activities and free adaptable resources. Underpinned by evidence-based research and combined with groundbreaking careers education, the programme successfully bridges the gap between academia and industry, to ensure pupils are aptly equipped for the future digital economy.
