We would like to give your year 6 and Year 7 pupils an exciting opportunity to attend a free educational opportunity at Ballyclare High School. We have been designated as one of the first Digital SchoolHouse hubs in Northern Ireland. This effectively means we have been designated financial support to offer our local feeder primary schools ICT skills set by the Digital Schoolhouse programme. These tie in directly with the Northern Ireland KS2 curriculum of using ICT ie ”Pupils should be enabled to develop Using ICT skills by engaging in meaningful and purposeful activities, set in a range of contexts. They should use ICT to handle and communicate information, solve problems, pose questions and take risks”. Specifically the KS2 Mathematics and Numeracy Theme in the curriculum is specifically covered.

In 2023 - 2024 academic year we are offering the following structure;

Mr G Shaw will deliver the DSH lessons in Ballyclare High School Learning Centre on Thursday mornings from 9:30-11:00am from Sept to May. These slots will be bookable in the month of September here calendly.com/mrshaw563 . Please book a maximum of 3 slots with each class.

After September, any remaining slots will be used to visit feeder primary schools for a one hour slot. This will help mitigate against the difficulties of obtaining transport.
