St Malachy’s High School Castlewellan is delighted to be participating in the Digital Schoolhouse programme as an extension to the work which we have already undertaken with our current feeder primary schools. The support and resources which Digital schoolhouse offer us will greatly enhance the learning experiences of our primary school pupils, a they not only develop their IT skills, but learn also about the concepts as to how computers work and how to program them.
St Malachys is an 11 to 18 co-educational school which caters for the full breadth of students learning abilities. We have a proud record of being a leading school in Northern Ireland with the use of computers and IT, both as a discrete subject and as a cross curricular tool used in all subject areas.
Digital Schoolhouse philosophy of making learning fun through interactive activities marries well with the school’s approach to developing and promoting computational thinking and problem solving skills. There is no doubt that this programme will enhance the learning experiences of all those involved and prepare our children for life in the 21 st century.
