Computational Word Games: Three Word Stories

Subjects: English
Key Stages: KS1 KS2 KS3

About

Computational word games are a fun way to tackle pupils understanding of key terms in computing. The aim of the game is to try and find a way to get your partner to say the hidden word without actually using it yourself; whilst simultaneously telling a story only three words at a time.

Play the game in pairs, in groups or in front of an audience. This activity can take 5 minutes or 50, it's totally up to you. Works well as a starter to a lesson or as a plenary, with any age group. The Teachers Guidance document provides links to the English Programmes of Study, but this activity could easily fit into any subject. Just replace the computing terms with ones from science, maths, geography etc. Throwing in a few random words is highly recommended, they definitely help to generate the giggles!
