Introducing follow-along videos of our popular playful computing activities!

Author: Sophia Aker, programme coordinator

At Digital Schoolhouse it is our passion to help parents, teachers and computer science lovers have free access to amazing resources that teach computing in a fun and engaging way. We’re thrilled to release our first ever series of follow-along videos of our most popular computing activities that use ordinary household objects, all accessible on our YouTube channel from 9am Saturday 4 April.

Last week we highlighted 10 of our most playful computing activities. However we know that now more than ever, having a virtual guide to follow is a proven way to keep young minds engaged and curious throughout their period of home learning.

Each video is 30 minutes – 1 hour long, and suitable for teaching ages 5-11 years. Our follow-along lessons introduce key computational thinking concepts, in addition to exploring different subjects from English to Physics and online safety!

Luckily for parents and carers, our follow along videos are designed to keep your child engaged! Giving you as a parent the option to join in on the activity or simply sit back and supervise nearby. Your online teacher, Estelle, encourages young learners to get creative with everyday objects so all you need to do is dust off your playdough, playing cards and paint!

You can watch all 10 activities on our YouTube channel from 9am Saturday 4 April.
